As you drive to work and around your neighborhoods every day, you may notice new construction sites. Construction workers are coming together to build new homes. They have one very important task to complete before erecting wood frames, ordering windows, hooking up wiring and pipes, or even before planting grass seeds. THEY HAVE TO LAY DOWN THE FOUNDATION OF THE HOUSE! Without a foundation, what will hold a house in place when the fierce storms rage and strong winds blow, or when other types of calamity threaten its structure? We have to take this idea into context within our own lives. What foundations do we have set to keep us successful, even when the winds and storms of life come rushing into our worlds trying to knock us down?
Foundations in life can come in several forms. A strong foundation for success can come in the form of education. A strong education can truly help anyone not only keep a job, but be the most prepared to work in that position. An education also provides individuals with a source of satisfaction; if they lose their current positions, they can fall back on their education to help them get another job faster than a person who may not have any education.
Positive Role Models
Foundations can also be set from upbringings and surroundings. Having positive role models such as mentors, pastors, life coaches, church families, and strong families can help individuals create positive atmospheres and environments. These positive surroundings can help individuals stay more focused on their goals and dreams and cultivate areas of passion. They won’t have to focus on pressures and trials others who don’t have these environments face on a regular basis. It’s very important that people with great desires, dreams, and aspirations surround themselves with people who believe in their directions and support their goals. Parents should also make sure their children are surrounded with positive environments early on as they work towards their goals and dreams.
Finally, foundations can be set in your focus, your drive, and your own personal determination. A person may not have been raised to be successful; they may have lived a life of tragedy, turmoil, and heartache. Anyone can take those tough life experiences and turn them into motivations and positives. I lost my mother when I was thirteen. She wanted me to go to college and obtain a college degree for a better chance of a successful life. I used that as my motivation through my undergraduate studies to excel and succeed as I worked to become a college graduate. I used that tragic situation as motivation every time I didn’t want to study for a big test, when finances and food were low, and when I wanted to give up. I was even blessed with the opportunity to enter a Master’s degree program following my undergraduate studies. I told myself and my Mom in heaven, “The Bachelor’s was for you, Mom, the Master’s is for me!”
So what foundations do you have set for a successful future? It may take a mindset change in the way you approach your life every day. Place positive, motivational, and inspirational people, quotes, and messages around you. Use your past failures as motivations to refocus your life and start over on a different path that will be more successful than the previous paths. You will be surprised how high your confidence, self-esteem, determination, and dedication toward your goals and dreams go when you set a positive foundation for yourself and work hard to put your Passion Into Action!
