Good human beings love to take care of the world around us. Whether it comes to our neighborhoods or families, we want to be there to give them the care and attention that they truly need so that their lives are more comfortable and more successful. It’s our way of giving back to the world around us and helping the people that we love and care for. The passions that are placed deep down inside of us are ours and ours alone to do some of the very same kind and caring things we do to take care of the world around us every day. The question is how are you using your passion to help the people around you?
“I’m a people person.”
How many times have you said, “I’m a people person” on a job interview? Actually, many employers don’t like hearing a person say this in a job interview, (hint, hint). When we classify ourselves as a ‘people person’, we leave the employer wondering, “Well, what does that mean for this job?”
So, what does that mean when it comes to your passion? You like to help people, but in what particular way do you want to help people? This is when it’s important to dive into different career fields and research job opportunities to see what type of a ‘people person’ you really are.
Here are some of the different careers for a ‘people person’:
- Health Care: Nurse, Medical Assistant, or Doctor
- Law: Attorney or Paralegal
- Human Services: Counselor or Life Coach
- Education: Student Affairs Professional, Teacher, or Professor
- Business: Sales Rep or Entrepreneur
I feel deep down that in some form or way we are all ‘people persons’. It’s the people that dig deep within themselves and find how their passions can help others that make their dreams not only come true for themselves, but for others as well. So, how do you give back to the world around you Mr. or Ms. People Person? We have to realize that YES, we love to work with and help people, but there are some careers on the above list that we truly have no interest in doing.
We have to take the time to find out what kind of people person career field that we want to dive into and see how we can use our passions to better the people in our passion areas. It’s time for us all to break out of our shells and see truly what kind of people person that we are deep down and put our PASSION INTO ACTION for everyone to benefit from!
